Senior Clinical Embryologist , Sheffield Teaching Hospital NHS

After her degree Helen did a few years of doctoral and post-doc research, including a project on sperm transport through the female reproductive tract. She was also laboratory study co-ordinator for the CHAPS study, a multicentre research study into the effects of occupation and lifestyle on semen quality.

Helen Clarke started training as an embryologist in St James’ in Leeds many years ago, and joined Jessop Fertility as an embryologist when it opened in 2001. She is now one of the senior embryologists and PR for their clinic and is also an associate lecturer with Manchester Metropolitan University and the University of Sheffield.
She has special interests in sperm donation and quality management.

Helen was an Executive member of ACE for a few years, including a term as secretary, at the time that ACE merged with other professional societies to form ARCS. She also sits on the Embryology Steering Committee for UK-NEQAS.
