Cryopreservation
Vitrification
Vitrification is a cryopreservation technique based on ultrafast cooling. High cryoprotectant concentrations in the media rapidly dehydrate the cells before they are plunged into liquid nitrogen. This rapid cooling solidifies the cell into a ‘glass-like state’ without any ice formation. The vitrification technique has proven effective for oocytes and all stages of embryo development.
