Course Description

This Course includes demonstrations of the vitrification cooling and warming procedures using beads, mouse oocytes, embryos, and blastocysts followed by hands-on work. This course will be a step-by-step practical training in vitrification.

This Hands-on Course is part 2 of the Hybrid ‘All about vitrification’ Course. Participation in Part 1, the Virtual Course is mandatory before enrolling in the Hands-on Course.

Course Objectives

  • To learn about the practice of vitrification of oocytes, embryos, and blastocysts
  • To learn about optimizing cooling and warming protocols

Target Audience

Lab technicians, clinical embryologists, research scientists wishing to introduce vitrification as a new service or those seeking to optimize their outcomes

Educational needs and expected outcomes

The course aims to provide you with knowledge on:

  • Hands-on knowledge on the cryobiological and technical aspects of cryopreservation, more specifically vitrification of oocytes, embryos, and blastocysts
  • Hands-on training – step by step – in vitrification

Minimal expertise required for participation in the Course

Working as an IVF/Andrology lab technician, an embryologist, a research scientist

This course does not involve any observation of clinical work or use of human oocytes or embryos.

Minimal technology requirements for participation

The participant must have adequate Wi-Fi, camera, and audio from a laptop (not phone) to engage during the Course.
Courses will be run via the Zoom and Teams platforms.

The official language of the course is English.

Certificate of attendance

Participants can obtain a certificate of attendance after completing the Course evaluation at the end of the Course.
